Coach's Bio--Bart Thompson, Head Coach

Coach Thompson has coached Track & Field 18 seasons, with the last 15 years at the high school level. Coach Thompson is excited to continue to build upon the traditions and program we have here at Salem Hills High School. He has coached every event in Track. He was himself a mid-distance runner in his day, but loves it all! Track & Field is his life's passion, and looks forward to working with you! Just don't show up late!!

Coach's Bio--Jen Hughes, Distance

Jen Hughes will be back with us again for her ninth season as our Distance Guru. Coach Hughes, originally from California, brings years of experience running distance--both on the track and on the roads. She has been a great source of knowledge and expertise for our distance squad. She is passionate about distance running! Just don't eat any "treats" she brings to practice...you never know what you're going to get!

Coach's Bio--Jodie VanTassell, Hurdles & Sprints

Coach Jodie VanTassell will again be working with our speed crew--our sprinters and hurdlers. She joined us 6-7 seasons ago and has taken our team to a whole new level of speed! She brings with her great knowledge of the speed events and a great sense of humor! She was a great hurdler in her own right at BYU a few years ago (we won't say how many...) and can still move pretty good! (BTW, she's the "nice" one on staff!)

Coach's Bio--Alex Crystal, High Jump

Coach Crystal joined our staff last year after having coached in Idaho for a number of years. He was himself a steeplechaser in college, but will be our new High Jump Coach. He brings a great analytical mind to this event and we are excited for him to continue to build our jumps crew into even greater domination!

Coach's Bio--Chad Weight, Javelin

Coach Weight is a familiar face to our program, and we're excited he's back with us coaching the Spear Chuckers! Coach Weight is a Skyhawk Track Alumnus, and is a former State Champion for Salem Hills in the Javelin. He brings with him incredible knowledge and experience in the Javelin. Coach Weight is a great addition to our staff, and we're thrilled to again have his enthusiasm with us!

Coach's Bio--Nathan Melton, Sprints

Coach Melton is our newest hire this year, and he will be taking over our Speed Crew! He brings a great deal of enthusiasm and knowledge of the sprint events, along with a mindset to make Salem Hills' sprinters into the toughest, best-trained sprinters in the State! We're excited for him to get to work!

Coach's Bio--Audrey Smith--Jumps

Coach Smith is again on our Salem Hills staff this year as our Long Jump expert, and she knows her stuff! Coach Smith competed in high school at Juab HS, then went on to compete for Weber State University as a sprinter and Long Jumper. She is excited to be back with us, and we are THRILLED to have her working with our team and our coaching staff. Don't let her "Kindergarten Teacher" persona fool you--She's a FIERCE competitor!
